How It Works

Infotropy defines a plane of structural expectations: what record pressure looks like, what patch accumulation means, what would count as functional identity vs. functional analogy, and what would falsify a pattern. The Parallax engine uses that plane to test structural questions across multiple independent domains and check where findings converge.

If the same pattern appears from several unrelated perspectives, the convergence is stronger evidence than any single confirmation. If the finding breaks from one angle, the mismatch is itself a discovery worth investigating. This is what makes cross-domain comparison testable rather than metaphorical — Infotropy supplies the criteria, Parallax applies them.

The name reflects the principle: like parallax in astronomy, shifting your vantage point reveals structure invisible from one position alone.

When directed at a specific big question, the engine can explore a territory, discover a structural claim not in the prompt, form a substantive opinion, and then follow the thread into a second argument. This published pair is proof of that full chain.

The engine was directed at the structural relationship between internet coordination and religious coordination. It found something not in the prompt: the internet performs the exact same civilizational functions religion did — binding strangers into cooperative groups, storing collective memory, establishing authority, punishing norm-violators — not as metaphor, but as structural succession. The specific functional mapping (algorithmic authority ↔ priestly authority, pile-on ↔ excommunication) emerged from the exploration itself.

Starting from that structural discovery, a second exploration pursued the consequences. The internet is not broken but juvenile — possessing adult capabilities with teenager-level self-regulation. The specific missing mechanisms are identifiable from the religious precedent: proportional response, repair pathways, and verification-before-amplification.
